COVID Portraits
| How can I create a series of non-traditional portraits to illustrate the impact of living in a COVID-19 world? — this investigation explores the social/emotional effects that COVID-19 has had on everyday people | Rachel was working directly with animals when the COVID-19 pandemic first hit, and while she began to reflect on feelings of isolation, she simultaneously started to associate the preconceived social pragmatics of humanity, with her newfound closeness to animals. In this study of personality and communication, Rachel was able to open herself up to vulnerability in a way in which she had never explored before. Pairing anonymous quotes from her peers and friends, with the animal identities illustrated in the portraits, was the key to discovering the intersectional spirit of nature, emotion, and individuality. In discovering this, Rachel was able to successfully corral her thoughts and struggles, in a means to further develop the narrative, and push the dialogue in a more personal and intimate direction.
